Macsen passed out

Scary morning for us today. Mac woke up at 8 and wanted a banana but he can’t eat bc of his cath scheduled at 10. He cried and said his tummy was eating itself. Very quickly over the next hour he became very lethargic, started sweating, turned completely white then he became unresponsive. We bypassed the ER and brought him straight up to the cath lab where I knew they had his history and were waiting for him for the cath. I carried him in and said we need help. A nurse took him and rushed him to a room. He had 2 doctors and about 10 other cardiology staff members gathered around. Everyone was calm but there was a lot of urgency as they tried to determine if it was cardiac related or something else. They tried about 4 different access points to get an Iv in but his veins we clamped shut. He was passed out but would scream when they stuck him. His blood sugar was 20 - very very low.
They gave him Iv sugars. His cath is off for now - he’s going to be admitted for observation and to try to optimize his meds. He had an echo. Everything is up in the air. I have never been so scared as i was seeing him passed out and everyone working on him. I am going to have to go cry at some point. His blood sugar should not have dropped so low - he’s never had sugar issues before
